AI Setups vs Opentag: a Slack coworker you start yourself, or agents set up for you

Opentag calls itself your AI coworker for Slack. It uses company knowledge and connected tools to answer questions, complete tasks and automate recurring work, and you start it yourself.[1] AI Setups sets up ready-made agents for SMEs with 2 to 100 staff, adapts them to the business and shows the team how to use them, for a fixed price per agent.

What Opentag is, and where it shines

Opentag is an AI coworker that lives in Slack. You tag it in a conversation and it answers questions, writes, and completes tasks using your company knowledge and connected tools. Use cases on its site include research and Q&A, Linear project work, GitHub engineering tasks, analytics in PostHog, Stripe and Meta Ads, sales and CRM lookups, meeting summaries and Google Docs and Sheets. Recurring requests can become scheduled or event-triggered automations.[1]

Where it shines is a quick, self-serve start and technical depth. Opentag lists 50+ integrations and routes work across more than 40 models automatically. Credits are shared across the workspace, with unlimited channels and people, and it offers a 7-day trial with all skills and integrations. Each request is limited to the requester's permissions.[1][2]

What AI Setups is

AI Setups sets up ready-made AI agents for SMEs with 2 to 100 staff. We start with the Operations Agent, which answers questions about the business, writes reports and drafts routine work, and the Lead Gen Agent, which finds new B2B leads and writes personal emails every day.

We connect your systems, adapt the agent to how your business works and show your team how to use it. The agent works in Slack, WhatsApp and email, does the routine work and asks a person to approve before anything goes out. It costs €500 a month per agent, with a 3-month minimum and no setup fee.

Key differences

Who does the setup

Opentag is self-serve: you sign up, connect your Slack workspace, invite it into a conversation and tag it. It lists go-live as minutes and offers an optional 15-minute intro call.[1]

With AI Setups we do the setup. We connect the systems, adapt the agent to how the business works and show the team how to use it.

How you pay

Opentag shows a Team plan at $500 a month, billed monthly, with credit tiers on the page priced from $50 to $2,000 a month. Opentag estimates the $500 tier at about 2,200 tasks a month. Credits are shared across the workspace, reset monthly and do not roll over. Annual billing is available through sales, with about a 15% saving.[2]

AI Setups charges a fixed €500 a month per agent, with a 3-month minimum and no setup fee. We do not meter tasks.

Where it works

Opentag works in Slack today and shows Microsoft Teams as coming soon. WhatsApp is not mentioned.[1]

AI Setups agents work in Slack, WhatsApp and email.

Control and approval

Both ask before acting on the things that matter. Opentag shows actions with meaningful consequences for approval, and you can approve, adjust or decline each step.[1]

AI Setups agents do the routine work and ask a person to approve before anything goes out.

Data and hosting

Opentag lists workspace isolation, TLS 1.3 and AES-256 encryption, and says data is never used to train models, by Opentag or the providers it routes to. SOC 2 Type I is complete and Type II is in progress. It does not state a data region.[3]

At AI Setups, hosting and data are agreed per customer.

Example: a company with 10 staff

Opentag includes unlimited people, so a 10-person company on the $500 Team plan pays $500 a month, the same as a 2-person one. Opentag estimates that tier at about 2,200 tasks a month.[2]

The same company with one AI Setups agent pays €500 a month, whatever the number of tasks. With two agents, €1,000 a month. Prices excl. VAT; Opentag's prices are in dollars.

When Opentag is the better choice

  • Your team works in Slack and wants to start in minutes, without a call.[1]
  • You want a 7-day trial with all skills and integrations before paying.[2]
  • You use GitHub, Linear or PostHog and want a coworker that works across them.[1]
  • You want unlimited people on one plan and no minimum term stated.[2]
  • You want automatic routing across more than 40 models.[1]

When AI Setups is the better choice

  • You want the agent set up and adapted for you, not to start and tune it yourself.
  • You want the agent in WhatsApp as well as Slack and email.
  • You want Dutch or Swedish founders to talk to.

Switching, or using both

You do not have to choose one for everything. A team can use a Slack coworker for research and engineering questions and an AI Setups agent for one process that has to run the same way every day, such as the weekly report or lead follow-up.

If you move from Opentag to AI Setups, start with the one process you rely on most. We set that agent up first; you keep your own tools and accounts.

Where we run this ourselves

We run the same agents in our own companies. The Operations Agent runs every day at Remodius, the ecommerce brand Jim runs, and the Lead Gen Agent runs our own outreach on Rasmus's tools ListFixer, MailSpot and Leadster.
