AI Setups vs ChatGPT: build it in ChatGPT, or have it set up

ChatGPT is OpenAI's AI assistant. Its business plans add ChatGPT Work, always-on agents called dots and @ChatGPT in Slack and Microsoft Teams. Your own team connects the plugins and decides what it may do.[1][3][4][5] AI Setups sets up ready-made agents for SMEs with 2 to 100 staff, adapts them to the business and shows the team how to use them, for a fixed price per agent.

In short

Pick ChatGPT if someone on your team will connect the plugins and review the output, you work in Microsoft Teams, or you mainly want an assistant for everyone.

Pick AI Setups if you want an agent running without building it yourself, a fixed monthly price, and WhatsApp as well as Slack and email.

The main difference: with ChatGPT you get the building blocks and do the setup and upkeep yourself. With AI Setups we set up and adapt the agent, and you pay a fixed price per agent.

What ChatGPT is, and where it shines

ChatGPT is OpenAI's AI assistant, with individual plans (Free, Go, Plus, Pro) and business plans (Business, Enterprise). ChatGPT Work, launched in July 2026, is an agent that works across your apps and files, stays with a project for hours and turns a goal into finished sheets, slides, docs or web apps. Dots, announced in September 2026, are always-on agents with their own cloud computer that work towards your goals around the clock. In Slack and Teams, anyone can mention @ChatGPT in a channel to plan, investigate or turn a thread into a brief.[1][3][4][5]

Where it shines is reach. Plugins connect Slack, Teams, Google Drive, SharePoint, email, calendars and CRMs, and dots reach more than 4,000 apps. The desktop app with Chat, Work and Codex is on every plan, including Free. The interface is available in Dutch and Swedish.[1][4][5][8]

What AI Setups is

AI Setups sets up ready-made AI agents for SMEs with 2 to 100 staff. We start with the Operations Agent, which answers questions about the business, writes reports and drafts routine work, and the Lead Gen Agent, which finds new B2B leads and writes personal emails every day.

We connect your systems, adapt the agent to how your business works and show your team how to use it. The agent works in Slack, WhatsApp and email, does the routine work and asks a person to approve before anything goes out. It costs €500 a month per agent, with a 3-month minimum and no setup fee.

Key differences

Who does the setup

ChatGPT is self-serve. Users connect plugins and set rules for what it may do. For Slack and Teams, an admin enables @ChatGPT and chooses which company tools it can access. Enterprise adds dedicated onboarding and ongoing account management.[2][3][4]

With AI Setups we do the setup. We connect the systems, adapt the agent to how the business works and show the team how to use it.

How you pay

ChatGPT Business is billed per seat, at $25 a month or $20 billed annually for a standard seat. Each paid seat adds API credits ($20 standard, $100 premium), pooled up to $500 per workspace, and Business can buy more credits. More complex tasks use more of the included usage. From December, usage will share one limit across ChatGPT and Codex.[1][2][4]

AI Setups charges a fixed €500 a month per agent, with a 3-month minimum and no setup fee, so the bill does not change with how much the team asks.

Where it works

ChatGPT runs in its web, desktop and mobile apps. On Business, Enterprise and Edu, @ChatGPT works in Slack and Microsoft Teams, and team members without their own licence can use it in enabled channels. Texting a dot is a beta for a limited number of Pro users in the US and is not supported in Business workspaces.[1][3][6]

AI Setups agents work in Slack, WhatsApp and email.

Control and approval

Both ask before acting on the things that matter. With ChatGPT Work you decide what it can access, when it checks in and when it needs approval, and Auto-review checks important actions first. @ChatGPT asks for approval before acting in connected tools. Dots follow custom rules to allow, require approval for or block actions, and OpenAI advises reviewing consequential work.[3][4][5]

AI Setups agents do the routine work and ask a person to approve before anything goes out.

Data and hosting

Business does not train on your business data by default. OpenAI names SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO/IEC 27001 for its business products and supports signing a DPA. EU data residency is offered to eligible Enterprise, Edu, Healthcare and API customers, not Business. Dots on Pro are not available in the EEA, Switzerland or the UK; on Business Premium seats they run in supported regions, subject to eligibility.[6][7]

At AI Setups, hosting and data are agreed per customer.

Example: a company with 10 staff

A 10-person company on ChatGPT Business with standard seats billed monthly pays 10 × $25 = $250 a month, or 10 × $20 = $200 a month billed annually. An always-on dot needs a premium seat, at $125 a month billed monthly. Someone in the team does the setup. Prices as shown to a US browser, in USD.[2][6]

The same company with one AI Setups agent pays €500 a month, whatever the number of tasks. With two agents, €1,000 a month. Prices excl. VAT.

When ChatGPT is the better choice

  • Your team works in Microsoft Teams: @ChatGPT works in Slack and Teams today.[3]
  • You want the interface in Dutch or Swedish.[8]
  • Someone in the company will connect the plugins, write the instructions and review what the agent does.[4][5]
  • You want a general assistant for everyone, from $20 a month for Plus or $25 a seat for Business.[1][2]
  • You want to start today on a free plan, without a call.[1]

When AI Setups is the better choice

  • Nobody in the company has time to own the setup and upkeep.
  • You want the agent in WhatsApp as well as Slack and email.
  • You want a fixed monthly price per agent instead of seats and usage limits.
  • You want a Dutch or Swedish team to adapt the agent to how you work.

Switching, or using both

You do not have to choose one for everything. Many teams keep ChatGPT seats for writing, analysis and quick questions, and add a set-up agent for one process that has to run the same way every day, such as the weekly report or lead follow-up.

If you started building with ChatGPT yourself and would rather hand it over, start with the one process you rely on most. We set that agent up first; you keep your own tools and accounts.

Where we run this ourselves

We run the same agents in our own companies. The Operations Agent runs every day at Remodius, the ecommerce brand Jim runs, and the Lead Gen Agent runs our own outreach on Rasmus's tools ListFixer, MailSpot and Leadster.

Questions.

ChatGPT is OpenAI's AI assistant, sold as individual and business plans. Business adds ChatGPT Work, @ChatGPT in Slack and Microsoft Teams, and always-on dots on premium seats, all set up by your own team.

ChatGPT gives you the tools and you do the setup and upkeep, paying per seat with included usage. AI Setups sets up and adapts ready-made agents for you, for a fixed €500 a month per agent.

When someone in the company will connect the plugins, write the instructions and review the output. For writing and analysis alone, a Plus or Business seat is often all you need.

On 31 Oct 2026, as shown to a US browser, ChatGPT had a Free plan, Plus at $20 a month and Business at $25 a seat a month, or $20 billed annually. Enterprise is custom. Regional prices may differ.

Dots on the Pro plan are not available in the EEA, Switzerland or the UK. On Business premium seats they run in supported regions, subject to workspace eligibility.

Yes. Your team can keep using ChatGPT for its own work, while an AI Setups agent runs one process that has to work the same way every day.

Today our agents work in Slack, WhatsApp and email. @ChatGPT supports both Slack and Microsoft Teams.
